Are you planning to remodel or renovate your home? Are you building a new home and need help choosing finishes, paint colors, cabinetry, etc.? Considered hiring an Interior Designer but don’t know where to start? Well, I am here to make it easy for you. One of my favorite aspects of writing about home decor and the design industry is the people I get to meet. We, at Textures Flooring, work with designers often and enjoy it. Earlier this week I was lucky enough to get to interview Julie Davis of Julie Davis Interiors. Here’s what I learned about Julie.
Julie has been in Nashville doing Interior Design for the past 13 years. Before Nashville she was in Atlanta and has also worked in Florida, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Nevada. She is am member of ASID, American Society of Interior Designers and has been self employed for the past 25 years. One of the the things that makes Julie effective as a designer is her design approach.
“I would say my biggest design approach and the tool that is most effective is to LISTEN!! As a designer, you need to be sure to listen to what the client or builder is trying to achieve, what the function is going to be, how many kids, what is the budget, what is overall look they are wanting. I don’t like to stamp a look onto all my projects, I want each one to get the individual attention they deserve.”
Julie is inspired by nature and likes to use neutral colors such as tan, green and brown, with casual, natural products such as wood, cork, and linens. She really likes outdoor spaces. One of her favorite projects is an outdoor room that she did while the client was out of town. She brought in several truck fulls of furniture and staged the space for them all the way down to the plates and napkins on the table! They came home and loved it and kept everything… even the plates and napkins!!
“I really try to make my clients houses have an inviting-come-on-in-feel-at-home look! I don’t like spaces that yell look but don’t touch. I want to create a relaxed beauty that feels inviting, livable. [My design philosophy is,] Be willing to try something different. I really like to think out of the box and not follow rules. I try to never say “no” that can’t be done, instead I think why don’t we try to make this happen. That attitude has turned out some pretty cool spaces!”
Pretty cool spaces, indeed! We love the work Julie is doing. For more pictures, head over to her design gallery here. When asked how she felt about working with us, Julie said,
“I have worked with Textures for over a decade! I can’t even count how many homes I have used them for now. Textures makes it so easy to do business with them because it is total turn key – from selection process, to measuring , to install, to follow up and customer care for years of satisfaction. They really back up their work and product. Customer service is key.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Julie Davis is top-notch in her field and we are looking forward to working with her on the next project. Now that you know a little more about her, maybe you’ll choose her and Textures Flooring for your home interior needs.
