2022 Top Hardwood Flooring Trends

Hardwood flooring provides a timeless appeal for your home’s foundation.

Not only do the heritage and provenance of wood planks share an amazing story, but the natural wood brings warmth and creates an organic feeling to the interior of a home. Although hardwood flooring will withstand the test of time, we still tend to see trends emerge when choosing colors, patterns, materials, and applications. Trending flooring designs represent aesthetic visions and grow quickly in popularity once introduced.

Textures shares their top hardwood flooring trends for 2022. Check out what’s new underfoot and get inspired for your next flooring project!

Color

We’re currently seeing a switch back to earth tones and ranges of driftwoods, light browns, and naturals over the reddish tones of the 90s. And, warmer tones, in general, are making a comeback.

Pattern

Current pattern trends include integration of parquet, such as chevron and herringbone, incorporated into flooring layouts. In addition, we’re seeing custom parquetry designs such as in the home featured below. Patterns allow our designers to bring some imagination to the design to give people unique, fresh looks. Customization and the ability to create something different is the primary trend for 2022.

Materials & Style

From a style standpoint, wide plank hardwood is a very important trend we see continuing in 2022. Long boards and character natural, when characteristics of the wood are showcased, are other material styles that are all the rage in hardwood flooring. From a species standpoint, walnut is very on-trend.

Applications

Bringing the organic feeling of wood to the ceiling and wall is another trend for 2022. Millwork and ceiling applications add a dimension of design that is very difficult to replicate in any other medium because it’s timeless and modern. Textures Nashville provides clients with coordinating flooring and millwork like in Chef Sean Brock’s new, flagship restaurant, Audrey, pictured below.
